Connexions Outreach sessions

Audley Library, every week on Friday 2 till 3pm

Louise from Connexions tells us:

'Connexions, formerly Staffordshire Careers Service, is an information, advice, guidance and support service for 13 to 19 year olds across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent.  We are no longer just a careers service! Our personal advisers can help young people to get jobs or courses, put them in touch with other support agencies, help young people build on their strengths and weaknesses, reach their potential.  Young people can get advice on other issues, for example sexual health, family problems, counselling, relationships and money.  In fact, all things to all young people.  This session in Audley library is aimed at 16 to 19 year olds who may be unemployed, doing a course at college they hate and want to change, may be working part time and want full time work, perhaps at home with a young baby and want to get back into work or training.  Or simply don't know what to do and want to know what's out there for them.'

Netmums is a local network of websites originally set up for mums by mums, and aimed at helping parents to cope with, and enjoy being, a parent.   However, this nation wide network is open to everyone who looks after children, whether you are a mum, dad, grandparent, childminder etc. If you are looking for a local parent and toddler group, pre-school or childcare; are desperate for somewhere new to take the children; or would like to make some new friends in your area, www.netmums.com/northstaffs has the answer.

There is information on local places to visit and play centres, family-friendly restaurants and pubs, local clubs and classes.... And the 'what's on' section of local events will keep you up-to-date with all the latest that is going on in your area. If you are looking for a job, there are tips on how to get back to work, and all the local contacts you may need. If you are looking for a local plumber or builder you can find recommendations from local people who have used them, in addition to all this there are tips for those all-important children's birthday parties! If you are moving house, or looking for a school, there is a wealth of information to help, including links to inspection reports, and comments from local parents on what's good about different pre-schools and playgroupsAnd when you need help?  There are sections on healthcare - doctors and dentists, alongside suggestions and sources of support to help you deal with postnatal illness, or parenting difficulties. If your child has special needs, or you are a lone parent looking for ideas, there are local groups and contacts that will help. So what do you do? Well you register with your local  www.netmums.com/northstaffs via the internet.  If you haven't internet access at home, then why not visit your local library and gain access there, and if you have never used a computer before, they will show you how.
